What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless

Unless it is a

I am not sure if you heard the word but they are having their FIRST, yes I said 1st SQLSaturday in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. Those folks at PASS and those of us in the community love it when a new city is added to the list of great places SQLSaturday has been held, but this one really warms our hearts. I have been trying to lend a hand here an there to help with this event and since I am getting there several days early I am sure I will be put on manual labor. But at the end of the day it is . . . → Read More: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless

SQLSaturday Nashville!

Wow, how do things get so out of control? One day I am packing getting ready for Summit 2013 and pushing the button on Nashville’s SQLSaturday; the next minute I am freaking out that there is like 2 weeks before the big day. In that small run of less than 120 days I have done the following; went to summit (October), drove to Kalamazoo for SQLSat, spent 2 days in Fort Wayne, spent 1 night in Kokomo, there was Thanksgiving for 8 at my house, dad’s bday, Kerry’s bday, I catered lunch for 12 and a cocktail party for another 12, Christmas, I quit my job, went to Napa for . . . → Read More: SQLSaturday Nashville!

#SQLSat249 San Diego

Well La Jolla to be exact!!!!

What a great weekend with #SQLFamily. I believe this is the farthest we’ve traveled to attend a SQL Saturday. Had we driven it would have taken 28 hours and we’d put 2,041 on the car just to get there. Good thing we have the modern marvels of flight. Instead we rode in the back of a Southwest 737 for just short of 4 hours. So much fun to leave Nashville at 8 am and arrive at 10 am local time. Fun until 8 pm local time when I start to get sleepy!!!

We had an action packed weekend. There was a BBQ on . . . → Read More: #SQLSat249 San Diego

Or AKA:

I am presenting at #SQLSat249

THIS week I will be traveling to San Diego to present, help with the WIT program and man the PASS booth. I am not sure which of my sessions I am doing, the organizers sent out a note and said everyone that submitted gets their sessions. OOPS I submitted 2 and I think I need to focus on manning the booth so I have asked to only do 1. I am so excited I can hardly wait. There is a lovely BBQ planned and a lovely beer tour. This beer tour we are taking looks dog gone awesome. I am totally excited . . . → Read More: SAN DIEGO here I come!!!!!

Event Planning Suggestions

Not just for SQLSaturday

I have visited SQLSaturdays, I have spoke at SQLSatrudays and I am starting the planning for my own here in Nashville. I have learned so many things and I have listened to the small complaints, don’t get me wrong they are not huge deals but I have been keeping notes. I am going to break this down into a list hopefully it will help remind me and help you with your next event.

I guess now is a good time to tell you that I have experience as an event planner. Ha! Bet you didn’t know that. When I worked for the School of . . . → Read More: Event Planning Suggestions

The wrap up!

So it is always bittersweet to go home. I love getting to see friends and family but hate that I don’t have the time to see them all. So besides that let me give you my summary.

Great location. Our hotel was 6 miles away and it was truly a non-issue. Great venue, everything worked, was clean and all rooms were ready for presentations. Speed PASS!! If you aren’t doing this for your event you should. Free Internet, so important! LOVED the envelope with vendor goodies. So my new favorite order is thumb drive, plastic envelope, bags. Ample parking. Shirts were awesome. And I mostly appreciated that . . . → Read More: Post #SQLSat242

Back home again …in INDIANA

Well if you have never been to the greatest spectacle in racing, The Indianapolis 500 or you are not from Indiana you might not have any clue why this is important. But the short story is that Jim Nabors sings Back Home Again in Indiana prior to the race. You see I was born and raised in Kokomo, Indiana. Moved to Lafayette and then almost 4 years ago we moved to Nashville, TN.

Oh I am guessing you might like me to get to the point of all this. Well gang I am going home for the weekend and even better news is that I will be presenting at #SQLSAT242 . . . → Read More: Back home again …in INDIANA
