Gwen – update

Ok we are finally home!   Gwen has a ruptured/slipped otherwise unhappy disc in her neck.  This is an issue because if not corrected she could become paralyzed.  They are extremely confident that she can be treated without surgery.  Which is excellent news!  The only other good news was that the bill was only $46 including her meds.  Her standing around holding one foot in the air is the same thing that happened to me with the sciatic nerve, guess her foot tingles too.  J  They are requesting that we contain her to a crate for the next 4 weeks.  She can go outside 4 times a day and if she feels pretty good about 10 min of walking around is allowed.  The pills will make her really thirsty and very hungry (like that can get any worse?).  She should be restrained to her crate at all times and harnessed when outside.  We need to buy her a harness ASAP!  If we think she is lonely we are allowed to “tie” her to the couch next to us.  Wonderful. Gwen is old and has had a heart murmur for some time.  They would like to do a few test and see how bad it is.  He was guessing that on a scale from 1-6 she is probably a 3.  Complications caused by this could be her liver having to work so hard, which during the exam they could not “feel” any of her organs up there.  They are optimistic that it is because she is so tense.  So they are concerned about those organs and would like to look at them.  Also her teeth need cleaned, haven’t done that cause of the heart murmur, but apparently dirty teeth make it worse.   So it looks like in 4 weeks if she is better we will be “treating” and testing some of her other issues, for now she is locked in the bedroom by herself.   This has been a very stressful day for the both of us, as a matter of fact I got bit trying to get her out of the car.  Man that ungrateful bitch.  Maybe I should go make her some breakfast – she didn’t get that today.
