{"id":399,"date":"2010-12-28T09:00:42","date_gmt":"2010-12-28T15:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/clarkcreations.net\/blog\/?p=399"},"modified":"2010-12-23T15:44:32","modified_gmt":"2010-12-23T21:44:32","slug":"snicker-doodles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/clarkcreations.net\/blog\/snicker-doodles\/","title":{"rendered":"Snicker Doodles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was given this great book <a style=\"border: none;\" href=\"&lt;a href=&quot;http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1586852175?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=clarkcreat-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1586852175&quot;&gt;101 Things to Do with a Cake Mix&lt;\/a&gt;&lt;img src=\" target=\"_blank\">101 Things to do with\u00a0a cake mix<\/a>, while I have only tried a few things one of my absolute favorites is the snickerdoodle recipe.\u00a0 Now I know it&#8217;s the Holidays and folks are needing thousands of cookies but since it is just the two of us this is a great recipe as it is QUICK and only produces about 2 dozen cookies.\u00a0 As I sat down to write this post I wondered &#8220;Why do they call them snicker doodles there aren&#8217;t any snickers in them?&#8221; Well a handy dandy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bing.com\" target=\"_blank\">BING<\/a> search took me to the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Snickerdoodle\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia page for snickerdoodles <\/a>and I wonder no more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Joy of Cooking<\/em>claims that snickerdoodles are probably German in origin, and that the name is a corruption of the German word <em>Schneckennudeln<\/em>, which means &#8220;snail noodles.&#8221;<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Snickerdoodle#cite_note-2\">[3]<\/a><\/sup> A different author suggests that the word &#8220;snicker&#8221; comes from the Dutch word <em>snekrad<\/em>, or the German word <em>Schnecke<\/em>, which both describe a snail shape.<sup id=\"cite_ref-Olver_3-0\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Snickerdoodle#cite_note-Olver-3\">[4]<\/a><\/sup> Yet another hypothesis suggests that the name has no particular meaning or purpose <sup id=\"cite_ref-4\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Snickerdoodle#cite_note-4\">[5]<\/a><\/sup> and is simply a whimsically named cookie that originated from a New England tradition of fanciful cookie names.<sup id=\"cite_ref-5\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Snickerdoodle#cite_note-5\">[6]<\/a><\/sup>There is also a series of tall tales about a hero named &#8220;Snickerdoodle&#8221; from the early 1900s which may be related to the name of the cookie.<sup id=\"cite_ref-6\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Snickerdoodle#cite_note-6\">[7]<\/a><\/sup><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<p>1 box cake mix (yellow, vanilla, french vanilla, classic golden vanilla &#8211; I have decided it doesn&#8217;t matter)<br \/>\n1 teaspoon of Vanilla<br \/>\n1\/3 cup of vegetable oil (in an attempt to be more healthy I try to split this with olive oil)<br \/>\n1\/2 cup of sugar + 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon to roll the dough balls in<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"_IGP7612a by tclarkcreations, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/photos_by_tammy\/5286451720\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5203\/5286451720_281515509d.jpg\" alt=\"_IGP7612a\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.\u00a0 In a mixing bowl stir together all ingredients except the cinnamon and sugar until a dough is formed.\u00a0 Shape the cookies into 1&#8243;
