Another post for the first timers!!!
Wow can you believe we are 3 weeks out? I feel that I am just terribly behind; I mean I booked my flights just the other day.
Well I guess today I will start with some travel tips. There is light rail that runs from the airport to the downtown area. It is really cheap (like around $3). But there is walking involved. However we pack pretty heavy (2 laptops, 2 cameras, 4 cell phones and a pile of cables, cords and chargers) and after last year I am sure it will be even heavier as I didn’t bring enough pants. PANTS! I know, right? I didn’t realize how dirty one gets sliding in and out of cabs and what not. Also if you are traveling with friends/co-workers we found last year that you can get a car scheduled pretty cheap split over several folks (you can get a car(4) or SUV(7). Yes there are cabs and they run in the $50 dollar range.
Once you are downtown you should always be able to find folks to share a cab ride with and there are shuttles that run between the conference center and some of the hotels. There were a few occasions that we found it took too long and just grabbed a cab. All of the cab drivers will provide you a receipt (most of them are business cards you fill in yourself – check with your company to find out what is acceptable for reimbursement). Our average cab ride was $5 without a tip.

Wednesday there is the Chapter Lunch, you can connect with local PASS Chapter Leaders
Thursday there is the Women in Technology Luncheon
Friday you can connect with like minded peers at the Birds of a Feather Luncheon
How about dinner and second dinner?
There are evening events for Tues, Wed and Thur.
There are no requirements for you to attend these and there are several great places to eat in the area that you should be able to get in and out of in plenty of time.
So there are even after hour events that are hosted, some require tickets or require you to get all sweaty and run the streets with Jess!
All right gang I know that I am so excited that I can hardly stand it and the more I think about it the more I realize I have a lot to do between now and then. Please if I you get nothing else from all the information I have sent you just remember that we are all geeks and introverted to varying degrees don’t be afraid to talk to folks and DO NOT SIT IN YOUR ROOM or go to a movie.
