CHEESE!

I get milk from some local Amish farms and sometimes when I can snag a little extra I like to make cheese. Today I decided to document one of my all-time favorites, Burrata and Mozzarella.

The first step is to collect the required items. A small dish to mix ingredients, heatproof rubber spatula, knife for cutting curds, stockpot with lid, thermometer, strainer lined with cheesecloth, ladel/spider/slotted spoon to remove curds from the liquid.

I put 1/4 cup of water in a small dish and add 1 1/2 teaspoons of citric acid and stir until it’s dissolved. Pour this into your stockpot with the milk.

Now you wait until the . . . → Read More: CHEESE!

Great Things from Pass Summit 2016

I have been home from Pass Summit 2016 for less than two days and needed to express some of the greatness last week had. First I’d like to share something personal; I had the great fortune of padding a few days before and a few days after the Summit for some fun and sight seeing. I got to visit Woodinville one day on both weekends and it was pretty amazing. If you want to skip and get to just the news click here.

On our first trip we met Kevin White at his winery. There were 2 things that made visiting with him so memorable. Currently in Washington everyone is . . . → Read More: Great Things from Pass Summit 2016

#SQLSatIndy, Shaving Yak and Power BI

You are probably wondering how these things are all related. I love summer, when there isn’t a signed SOW I can find a million things to do outdoors. I love being out in the sun. This leaves me very unmotivated to be indoors doing things, like writing new presentations. Hence the problem.

The Indianapolis SQLSaturday is near and dear to our hearts. First we love Hope Foley [ BLOG | TWITTER ], she’s one kick ass woman and she’ really an inspiration. Next Indy is only an hour away from our family and they were the first user group I ever attended. So it’s no surprise that we both submitted . . . → Read More: #SQLSatIndy, Shaving Yak and Power BI

Indianapolis here I come!

Well here we are middle of summer and I have been on a bit of a traveling break. Been home since early June and to be honest I have loved every moment of it. That being said I really miss my #SQLFamily.

We are headed to Indianapolis Indiana for #SQLSat 304. My friend Hope [ B L O G | TWITTER ] is putting together another great event and she’s even offered me an opportunity to speak. I will be presenting 45 Minutes to Your First SSRS Report. Also presenting is my dear friend Joseph D’Antoni [ B L O G | TWITTER ] and my lovely husband Kerry Tyler . . . → Read More: Indianapolis here I come!

The Fresh Prince (#SQLSat294)

Or guess what? I am going to PHILLY for #SQLSat294!

If you think I have lost my mind just listen.

So this wraps up the spring travel schedule and should leave us at home till Indianapolis in August. Neither of us have ever been to Philadelphia. This is probably the furthest East I have been. We will be arriving on Thursday as Kerry [ B L O G | TWITTER ] is planning on attending the Friday Pre-con Stacia [ B L O G | TWITTER ] and Joey [ B L O G | TWITTER ] are putting on, Analytics Without Limits: The Modern BI Architecture Story. That should . . . → Read More: The Fresh Prince (#SQLSat294)

Orange County, but not including choppers

I am speaking in CA!

At least I don’t think it will include custom choppers. <SMILE> Well it appears that my good friends in Orange County have invited me to speak at their SQLSaturday. This event is happing on April 26, 2014 at the Goldenwest College. This will be #SQLSat289, and that sounds confusing because I did #SQLSat295 just a short while ago. You see you can commit to (sign the contract) up to 180 days out but no later than 120 days. So it is possible to be later in the calendar year but earlier in the numbering schema. Side note we are not hear to discuss or debate . . . → Read More: Orange County, but not including choppers

Houston, you are clear to land.

In other news I am going to Houston, Texas. I am sure many folks are thinking “So what?” or “Who cares?” And guess what? That isn’t going to prevent me from telling you about it. 😀

There are a few things that are going to make this trip different, special and somewhat stressful. I will be making my first solo trip, yup I have never flown alone. No where, not ever. To be honest I have only made a few driving trips alone. I believe that would be Michigan in the late 90s and several trips back and forth to Nashville during our transition period. So this will be what . . . → Read More: Houston, you are clear to land.

Wrap Up SQL Saturday Las Vegas

The last activity done before leaving on a trip is to check the weather and pack. I had packed earlier but still double checked on Tuesday to be certain that I had the appropriate clothing. WRONG! I had packed all jeans only to discover that it was going to be 80 degrees during our visit. I removed all but one pair of jeans and replaced them with capri pants, only to get to Las Vegas where it was colder than Nashville. That is okay it did warm up eventually. What beautiful weather we did had.

Ok, now back to my summary. We arrived on Wednesday knowing that there were . . . → Read More: Wrap Up SQL Saturday Las Vegas
