I so need longer weekends.  Maybe I should check the vacation balance and take a day off here and there.  So I started looking at some job postings in Indianapolis.  Then I started thinking about how much money that would really be.  So 60k job sounds pretty nice doesn’t it?  Well not anymore.  60k – 6000 (auto/commute expenses – BTW that doesn’t include me getting a new car (baby is a lease and only good for 10,000 miles a year) that leaves 54000.  54000 – 8000 (appox what Purdue puts into my retirement) we are now down to 46000 a year.  Not to mention I just lost 2 hours of my life every damn day.  The only way this type of thing will work is if I can work from home and got to the office like 4 x a month.  4,000 more a month is just not enough.  The next compairson will be to figure out if moving to Indy would solve the problem.  But remember folks taxes in Indy are higher (GO COLTS!).  Morale of the story: For Tammy to take a job in Indy there better be some damn good benifits or a good 10k more on the salary line.
