So long to you my faithful friend (2010)

Why I am ready to say good bye 2010.

The last year left me feeling pretty sad about my current job situation, I had a formal statement put into my record because I wasn’t the “tin foil”. At that point I had decided that I really didn’t give a shit and that it was the managers lack of technical skills problem not mine. So I figured I would wait it out and look for a new job later. I also was sad that I wasn’t getting to use any of my technical skills, I was a glorified secretary who spent too much time tracking and updating work task . . . → Read More: So long to you my faithful friend (2010)

Snicker Doodles

I was given this great book 101 Things to do with a cake mix, while I have only tried a few things one of my absolute favorites is the snickerdoodle recipe. Now I know it’s the Holidays and folks are needing thousands of cookies but since it is just the two of us this is a great recipe as it is QUICK and only produces about 2 dozen cookies. As I sat down to write this post I wondered “Why do they call them snicker doodles there aren’t any snickers in them?” Well a handy dandy BING search took me to the Wikipedia page for snickerdoodles and I wonder no . . . → Read More: Snicker Doodles

“Mexican Wedding Cakes”

Butterballs, Russian Tea Cake

Yesterday I set out to make Mexican Wedding Cakes, I new darn well that they in fact were not Mexican or wedding cakes so why on earth did we call them that? My research on this didn’t bring me any really good answers or even a <blockquote> to enhance the smartness of this page. All I found is that they were call Russian Tea Cakes until about the 1950s when the Mexican Wedding Cake term started being used. The guess is that it was because of our strained relationship with Russia at the time. Hmmm, can anyone say “Freedom Fries”.

Tea Cakes are a from . . . → Read More: “Mexican Wedding Cakes”

Homemade Marshmallows!

Homemade what? Yes marshmallows. I am not sure what prompted me to try this a few years ago but I am really glad for what ever it was. Now you may think that marshmallows are a daunting task but to be honest it is incredibly easy and doesn’t take long. The worst part of the process is waiting over night for them to set up and dry. This is an excellent gift item for co-workers; Christmas mug from the local department store (99 cents), either home made cocoa mix or a nice individual package (99 cents – $2) and your marshmallows.

3 pouches of non-flavored KNOX gelatin 1 . . . → Read More: Homemade Marshmallows!

Blog Re-Launch

The NEW blog

Well this has been a long time getting done, why? Well a lot of reasons none of which are really that great of an excuse. So with this new blog and with my newly found motivation I am planning on keeping this thing rolling! You may have noticed that I have retired my website clarkcreations.net and I am sporting a sexy new tameraclark.com. Patience is a virtue, one which I have little of but this time I did it and my name came available. WOOT!

What can you expect to find here? Oh heck that will totally depend on the day and how I feel. I have . . . → Read More: Blog Re-Launch

Fried Okra

Well this situation started out as really annoying. We planted 5 okra plants because Sam likes it. Then 2 of them died. That leaves us with 3 plants. They are producing but so far not that much. Mind you the plants are as tall as I am. Every time we go to the garden and have a few okra (which is almost every other day) Kerry suggest “WE” fry them and see if they are good. “WE” is such a great term, it means me preparing them and cleaning up the mess. Now I have avoided this by saying there isn’t enough and by pickling them because Kim said . . . → Read More: Fried Okra

STS-132 Atlantis Last Ride – PRE my departure post

Well there is a lot of esplainin’ to do Lucy. I miss blogging, I hate my blog’s look, I don’t have time to figure out how to make it pretty and I can’t find someone to pay. So there you have the answer to the mystery of where I have been.

NOW here we go starting back out with a blog series just for this little trip to Florida. Let me tell you how it began. KLT mentioned that @nasa was doing a tweetup for the upcoming launch and that we should register, but they were only taking 150. He said we’d leave it in God’s hands. I saw the . . . → Read More: STS-132 Atlantis Last Ride – PRE my departure post

Grown up Hot Chocolate

So for the 3rd or 4th time I have made us some rather adult hot chocolate. I have to warn you this is not for the occasional chocolate lover, it’s rich, it’s thick and it contains booze. I believe that after KLT enjoyed a cup the other night he proclaimed that he needed a glass of milk to follow that.

INGREDIENTS So I have tweaked this to get it to make 2 full coffee cups.

Fill 2 coffee mugs with hot water to preheat the cups. Get out your chocolate sprinkles, whipped cream or marshmallows.

In a small ramekin place the following and save for later.

What I have learned so far.

Well there was an ABRUPT move to Nashville TN in November. I know, I know you are sitting there shaking your head saying “WHAAAAT? You had been planning on moving for a year how was that abrupt?” Well the answer is yes of course we were closing on a house but I had no job and really really did intend on working by either working from home in KBNA or taking long stretches of vacation. But then I fell into a job. They moved very quick and I was surprised.

Here is what I have learned so far.

NO ONE down here is in a hurray but KLT and I. . . . → Read More: What I have learned so far.

Special Guest

Just recently I decided to really get serious about my blog again. I picked up some great ideas from Brent Ozar when he did an entire series on blogging. Awesome now I have some new tools and it’s time to start working out a new design. Before I could get started I was asked to write a blog post for the Lafayette Twestival. I was honored and scared to death. Me, a guest blogger? Much to my surprise I found it easy to write, so much so I had to leave things out and even not mention people that I adore. So here it is, but keep coming back because . . . → Read More: Special Guest
