By Tamera, on April 8th, 2009% With KLT living most of the time in Nashville cooking has just about come to a halt around here. Why cook for just me? Who wants to eat left overs for weeks on end? This has really lead me to research cooking for the purpose of preserving. Most importantly freezing. This has been a great adventure and at least I make an excuse to cook which is something I love and most importantly I actually eat. So Beef Veggie Soup sounded like a good idea to work in before the weather breaks and it becomes too warm for soup.
I started with a large arm roast, yes it was . . . → Read More: Beef Vegetable Soup
By Tamera, on April 6th, 2009% I am pretty sure that there are a couple of companies out there that just know how to pull my credit card out of my pocket and get me to hit check out. SanDisk knows the way to this girls hear OMG buy 3 SD cards, free shipping and mail in rebate. Earlier in 2008 SanDisk ran a sale on 4 gb cards, I bought 3 and got a $75 rebate. So honestly I am pretty set on SD cards I have 3-4gb cards, a 2 gb and 2- 1 gb cards. Wonder what happened when right before Christmas I got an email alerting me about a 3 card deal . . . → Read More: Product Review – SanDisk 8gb SD cards – OH HELL YEAH!
By Tamera, on March 7th, 2009% Oh I am going to go ahead and post two post in one day because 1. this is funny 2. I am terribly behind and 3. it’s my blog and I said so.
Last night around 6:30 pm I lost my connection to the outside world. OH NOES that can’t happen! KLT was on he phone and we worked through troubleshooting the DC, which had died. That didn’t solve my problem. After a good 30 minutes it was determined that Comcast was no longer giving me an IP address. 🙁 So I decide to run over to the neighbors and check to see if they are still connected to make . . . → Read More: a tale of internet tech support
By Tamera, on March 7th, 2009% Well Deb over at Smitten Kitchen posted this Irish Carbomb Cup Cake recipe she had made these for a friend. Well KLT and I just LOVE IRISH CARBOMBS!!! So of course I have to make these cup cakes. Now I don’t want to ruin it for you but I was disappointed in the over all end product. The cake part is great, the ganache is really wonderful and the Baileys Irish Cream frosting is AWESOME! I just feel that the flavors are not evenly distributed enough. KLT however likes the hidden surprise of ganache. So what’s in store for Tammy? I have 2 thoughts on this matter 1) try to . . . → Read More: Irish Carbomb Cup Cakes
By Tamera, on March 5th, 2009% I made a couple sleeves for my mammoth XPS laptop. One of those ended up to large and the other one is great. I really like them but I am still looking for a couple things. One is a sleeve with handles. I am still dreaming up that idea. But I had been wanting to make some sort of carrying device for Bella (that is the laptop’s name Bella Finestre – pretty windows). I had been working on an idea in my head for a couple weeks and this idea revolved around denim. I had been pondering sewing together scraps of denim including jeans, pockets and random pieces laying around . . . → Read More: Denim Skirt or is it?
By Tamera, on February 9th, 2009% Friday night between KLT getting off work and having to be back home to babysit some billing task we decided to run up to the closest mexica restaurant La Hacienda. They had a very large and complex menu which in my opinion is quite common for a Mexican joint. We were there just after 5 pm so we figured we could get in and out quickly and have good service. Well one of those two things did prove to be true. First I have to say that while the chairs chosen for this establishment were probably really cool looking they do not have the structure to be long term. By Tamera, on February 6th, 2009% I am annoyed at every grocery retailer in town. REALLY ANNOYED! I love garlic and I love to cook with garlic. Now of course there are many garlic options in the grocery store you can buy whole cloves of garlic peeled and in a jar, it’s a great convenience but they tend to go bad prematurely and are a bit expensive. There are even glass containers of already pressed/minced garlic and they come mostly packed in oil. This is a nice substitute to have around and has a pretty good shelf life. Then there is the “FRESH” garlic and the root of all my anger. Every store in town that . . . → Read More: Ahhhh Garlic
By Tamera, on February 5th, 2009% The other day I determined that depression is the cancer of the soul. Depression is something comes in many shapes and sizes and one size does not fit all. I am not totally clinically depressed nor do I feel that I need to seak medical attention and medication. 🙂 So those are all good news. My lack of intrest in the very things at bring me joy in my life are a direct result of missing KLT just way to much. Really Really. I told everyone that I was back on track after Christmas and spending some time with him in Nashville but I guess I was wrong. So here . . . → Read More: Catching up on life, again
By Tamera, on February 1st, 2009% One day I just woke up and had a desire to eat meatloaf and mashed potatoes. YUM! Comfort food. Had they not closed the McDonald’s Dinner I would of just went through their drive through and gotten it to go. So instead it’s a stop at the grocery store – boo! And them some wonderful time in my kitchen – YEAH!
How I did meatloaf, this time. Well I bought several chunks of meat a package of ground chuck, a package of ground turkey, a package of ground bison (cause it was on sale I got 2) and a chunk of pork as we can’t get ground pork here. So . . . → Read More: Meatloaf

So amongst my deliveries the other day I received my package from monoprice.com Included were 2 more HDMI cables, a auto charger for the Sansa and a external HD enclosure for a 2.5″ lappy drive. I have now on more than one occasion needed to gather data off when the machine had died or the boot partition croaked. Since I was ordering a replacement HDMI cable and a cable for a friend I decided to check out monoprice and see if they had any ribbon cables or hell just anything to salvage my data. They had this little number who’s comments were “concerning” (cheap and plastic) but for the . . . → Read More: Product Review – Lappy drive enclosure
