So I have been on this quest for a pair of wide legged jeans. I also have the requirements of not wanting waist bands and belt loops needing more of a flat front. This has led me to purchase some denim and use the trouser pattern I have to make a pair myself. I have been working on this all week and have had a few struggles. Like washing the material made a HUGE mess in the washer and dryer. So yesterday the pants were at the point where you can hold them up and see that they will be pants with only one problem. They are 6 feet wide. Now you are probably asking yourself how would I make my pants that much too big? I followed the instructions! I took my measurements and picked the proper pattern size. I even pinned the pattern and did a pattern fit. So today has been spent taking up the inseam, pinning, measuring and cutting them down to fit. Wow I have done the best zipper EVAR! so I take off into the bedroom to give them a try. Grab the bottom of the zipper to zip them up and they RIP horizontally. I then find out that the material is just that way EVERYWHERE. I have wasted miles of thread because every seam was surged, a perfectly good zipper and all my time. I am still wearing the ripped pants and they are pretty comfy. Oh well better luck next time.
