2 weeks till #Summit12, start your packing list

Another email sent to my first timers, remember I am posting here just to keep a good record for next year.

Oh my how the time is running by me so fast. Well first timers I don’t hear much from you so I am hoping that everyone is ready and excited as I am. Before my weekend starts I just want to throw out a little more information.

Suggestions of things to do this weekend!

Start a packing list. Think about all the important things that you don’t want to be without and are too expensive to replace. So list out what gadget charging cords you need, what gadgets you are taking, what comfortable shoes you need, medicine, contact lens or glasses you might need. I like to make my list so I can reduce the risk of forgetting things. I also tend to pile things on the dining room table starting about a week before.  This weekend I will probably start pulling together my camera gear and some of the warmer clothing that I won’t need during this week.  Bring a water bottle or plan to pick one up so you can refill it throughout the day. I would also suggest you bring some snacks, I was pretty hungry in the middle of the afternoon and wish I had some snack bars. Don’t forget to bring your kilt and your #SQLSaturday shirt.

Start looking at the schedule and start picking your sessions. I recommend that you try to get your company to buy the DVDs so you can see every session. But you don’t want to burn out your brain. My stack can only take so much. 😉 You can download the #summit12 schedule for guide book.  Always think about a backup session, if you get into one and it’s not what you think prepare to sneak out the back and in to the next session.  Don’t forget to hit up the non-session areas, there will be a bookstore, Community Zone and Microsoft has some neat things to check out.

If you are headed to Seattle alone you should only feel that way until the First timers meeting Tuesday night. You will meet so many people that you won’t be able to keep up!  If you ever just need some place to hang out try the Tap House, this place has a huge beer selection and will generally have a pile of SQL folks there.
