and it continues + a Mocha

So when I get home I have the wonderful surprise I have been waiting for, my new Breville Cafe Roma Espresso Maker ! A few weeks ago WOOT had a deal on a espresso maker but it was a little more than I wanted to pay and even though my poor little espresso maker(pretty much the 10yr old version of this, just imagine it more square and larger).  Hey it was 10 years old and I did only pay $25 dollars for it, I am pretty sure I got my money’s worth.  So last week WOOT had a deal on another Breville this time it was a little more affordable. To make this story even more fun I logged into KLT’s WOOT account, you see I set it up and ordered a generator on his behalf one day.  I don’t remember why he was in a hurry to get going.  Well I ordered it but I did change the CC info so I paid for it.  Funny thing is he got a random email from WOOT telling him he ordered an espresso maker.  🙂 Well last night I start to unpack that beautiful beast man it is heavy for it’s size.

This is the only picture that I was able to take last night, oh why do you ask?  It’s because the planets are still not in alignment.  I grabbed my beautiful K10D and discover that the batteries are DEAD.  Both of them.  No warning, no 1/2 battery indicator absolutely nothing.  So I will grab the cute little ist*DL and toss some AA batteries and we’ll be good to go, right?  HAHAHHAH! No remember the planets.  First off I can’t even find my rechargeable batteries so I opt for regular ones, nope says they are dead.  I find the rechargeable and after 3 sets find that they are all dead too.  I even went for another set of regular batteries apparently there is just not enough juice in them to operate a camera.  🙁  FINE! I won’t take any more pictures I will charge batteries and do it all in the morning.  Upon opening everything I discover that I am missing the frothing boot and the cafe set (cups and saucers) are missing.  🙁  At this point how would one not think that the whole world is conspiring against them.

This morning as I am getting things done and ready to leave I lay out all the requirements for making my first Mocha.

From what I read this is crema, who knew my old machine never made such a thing.

Now it is time to froth and warm the milk. With my old machine I would normally microwave my milk first then just froth it now that I have this beautiful beast of an espresso maker I see that I did that because the frothing wand, steam and pressure really sucked.

It’s beautiful! I was so excited I think I will start trying latte art!

Well I stuck to my “normal” recipe for a Mocha; cho syrup, 1 sweet n low, milk and a big shot of espresso (the old carafe up there says 4 shots).  Over all the machine was wonderful and I am extremely excited to try it again, however I am disappointed in the strength of my coffee.  It was terribly weak.  But in hindsight it took more than 1/2 the amount of grounds I normally use.  😉

Now the question is; Do I need one of these?

Here’s to hoping today is a better day!
